ST HELENS LOCAL AREA PARTNERSHIP FOR CREATIVE LEARNING

March 2010

In March 2006, thirteen schools (12 primary and 1 secondary) in St Helens, Merseyside formed the ‘‘Local Area Partnership for Creative Learning’ (LAP). In collaboration, they offer a whole range of non-core curriculum, out of school hours activities such as arts/ drama/ music/ crafts/ film making/ healthy eating/sports workshops as a way of establishing creative learning, enrichment and cultural diversity in the schools
and local community.

By delivering this project as a collaborative activity, it targets up to 6,000 pupils and 20,000 adults in the
most deprived areas of the borough.
One of LAP’s recent initiatives was to engage Kidsrthebiz to deliver an entrepreneur schools programme in
each primary school.
The schools in LAP would love to work with Kidsrthebiz again in the future. The children at the 12 schools thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and got a lot out of them in a creative way. Control of the children was very good and Bukky Olaleye drove the event.

Bukky was more than happy for the class teacher to sit outside
which is always an added bonus! Bukky is extremely professional in her approach and also reliable and punctual. She is able to adapt sessions to suit the need of each school and abilities.

A collaborative event for the 12 schools is now being planned as a way forward to develop on this work. I would happily recommend the sessions to other schools

The sessions were useful for the children. Allowing them to learn the vocabulary related to business basics and engage in an exciting activity that enabled them to understand the language

Children really enjoyed the session and gained a lot out of it; as they did not know much about business before.
