About
KidsRthebiz is an educational programme where children are taught business basics while learning important life skills such as; personal development, communication, public speaking, confidence and team work. It combines an academic curriculum with hands-on experiences and the business skills taught are both challenging and enjoyable for the children.
The programme utilises children’s knowledge of core subjects Numeracy and Literacy, in real life scenarios, while developing Personal and Social Education. Through the activities, three parts of the Every Child Matters document are met. They undertake activities that they enjoy and through which they achieve, they understand how to make a positive contribution and they learn how they can achieve economic well being.
It is increasingly apparent that traditional career path are no longer guaranteed, therefore, it is important to provide children from early on with alternatives to achieving economic independence. KidsRthebiz is committed to developing the entrepreneurial potential of tomorrow’s business leaders.
Each session comprises input, group work, practical demonstration of learned skills and review. The children are taught simple business concepts like pricing, promotion, marketing and administration using language they can understand, while maintaining the vocabulary found in real business. They are introduced to existing successful business models and encouraged to find out what makes those businesses work. They are then broken into groups for an interactive workshop where they apply these principles to their own ideas. At the end of the session, the children will have an opportunity to either present their ideas to a panel of ‘investors’ or produce a simple business plan which can be developed even further.
KidsRthebiz is a great way to jump start a child’s interest in business. We believe that any one is capable of entrepreneurship and even at a young age, they can begin to learn how to develop an idea into a successful business. Children have a wide range of interests and in the sessions they soon discover how some of these can become a worthwhile venture.
Children are creative, imaginative and fearless; all good characteristics of a successful entrepreneur.
